Petition of Luis de Tovar Godinez and Phelipe Morán de la Zerda and response by the Viceroy of New Spain 1647 [or 2?] Oct. 20.

A petition signed by Luis de Tovar Godinez and Phelipe Morán de la Zerda, in which they ask the Viceroy of New Spain to publicly acknowledge and obey the judgment in their favor issued by the Consejo de Indias in the name of the King of Spain, Philip IV. The signed response, dated October 20, 1647 (or 1642), possibly by the Viceroy, either García Sarmiento de Sotomayor, Conde de Salvatierra or Juan de Palafox y Mendoza, in which he agrees to obey the king's order, appears above the petition.
